The cushion insert that brings your cover to life
Found the perfect pattern but still need the volume that makes a cushion inviting? The MALO polyester cushion insert slips inside your cover to give it shape. Its white microfibre outer stays discreet beneath the decorative fabric, while the filling adds fullness to your arrangement.
At Anna & Moi, we like changing the atmosphere with a few covers while keeping the same inserts. A floral print in summer, a deeper plain shade in autumn: your sofa follows your mood without starting again. MALO gives you a simple foundation for that flexibility.
45 x 45, 40 x 60 or 60 x 60 cm: choosing a shape
The 45 x 45 cm square suits an armchair or either end of a sofa. The 40 x 60 cm rectangle sits in front of a larger square and breaks up an overly symmetrical arrangement. The 60 x 60 cm size adds presence to deeper seating and generous relaxation areas.
Start with the size of your cover. Measure it empty and flat between the seams, excluding any decorative flange. An oversized insert can strain the fastening; one that is too small leaves empty corners. NAÏA covers and MALO inserts come in the same three sizes, making a matching-size pairing straightforward.
With a flanged cover, identify the seam that forms the inner pocket: it defines the space for the filling. The decorative edge stays free around the cushion and should not be filled. This distinction is useful when measuring an existing cover.
Add volume while keeping the decoration you love
MALO combines a white microfibre outer and polyester filling. It is sold on its own, without a decorative cover. Use it to fill a new cover or refresh a cushion while keeping a favourite fabric.
For a balanced arrangement, position large squares behind a rectangle. Leave room to sit on the sofa: cushions should invite you to settle down. If the covers share a colour palette, contrasting shapes can provide all the visual interest you need. You can also move the smaller square to an armchair without changing the whole group.
Fit the insert with a few simple movements
Open the cover fully, guide the two corners furthest from the opening into place and work in the rest of the cushion. Smooth the volume with your hands before closing, without pulling on the zip. Adjust the corners from outside once it is dressed.
For the patio, pair MALO with a NAÏA cushion cover. The cover supplies the style and outdoor textile properties; bring the complete cushion somewhere dry after use. If you are sewing your own cover, allow a generous opening so the insert can be removed easily when it is time to wash the fabric.
Mamimosa’s practical answers
Is this a finished decorative cushion? It is an insert for a separately chosen cover. You decide the visible fabric and pattern.
Can I change the cover while keeping MALO? Yes, provided the size matches. This is useful when rotating covers between washes or refreshing a colour scheme.
How should I care for it? Wash at 30°C and air-dry. Wait until the centre is completely dry before replacing the cover, ready for the cushion to return to its place.
