The Karan rug provides that natural foundation with its handwoven blend of seagrass and cotton. It works with the furniture you already have, without asking you to rethink the whole room.

Handwoven seagrass and cotton

Karan combines 80% seagrass and 20% cotton. The material is part of the decoration: connect it with wood, a fabric-covered chair or a basket to create continuity between textures. This is a different choice from a long-pile rug. Choose it for the weave and natural character rather than the plush effect of a velvety surface.

Four sizes to define the area you want

The 60 × 90 cm size suits a small area you want to mark out. The 120 × 170 cm can accompany an armchair or small table; the 160 × 230 cm gives you a wider area to work with. The 200 × 290 cm lets you consider a larger living-room arrangement. These pointers still need to be checked against your furniture and walkways.

Before choosing, mark out the rectangle on the floor with sheets of paper or a folded sheet. Look at where the sofa and table legs sit, then walk around the arrangement. If the rug will be near a door, measure the clearance underneath it to check that the door can pass over it before buying.

Connect colours and leave some breathing space

Start with a colour already in the room: a curtain, chair or detail in a cushion can guide you. Leave some floor showing around the rug so you can appreciate its proportions. Keep the rug’s label and check its instructions before selecting a cleaning product or method. The presence of cotton is not enough to decide on machine washing for a blend containing seagrass. If a stain needs special treatment, seek advice before using a homemade solution or soaking the weave.

You choose one rug in one of the listed sizes, rather than an amount by the square metre. Select the dimensions that suit your space; this product page does not offer a made-to-measure cutting service.
