Black and bright orange are not compulsory. A palette of terracotta, rust, burgundy, plum, caramel, ecru and deep black creates a warmer result that can stay in place throughout autumn.
If your interior is light, add a darker shade in small touches. If your home already includes wood, beige or linen, rust and burgundy will work particularly well.

Napkins: the finishing touch
Cloth napkins can be folded simply, rolled with string or paired with a small natural detail. For Halloween, strong printed motifs are not essential: colour alone can create the effect.

Create a more enveloping living-room corner
In the living room, one or two cushions and a throw can echo the colours used on the table. This creates continuity through the home without multiplying decorative objects.
Mamimosa also recommends not saving your nicest textiles only for special occasions. If you love a throw or cushion cover, choose it because you will still want to use it after Halloween. That is usually the best way to avoid buying things that spend eleven months in a cupboard.

Halloween décor that works with children
With children, keep one area more playful: a few drawings, a little den under a throw, a snack corner or decorated pumpkins. This lets the rest of the house stay more understated while leaving plenty of room for fun.
Anna particularly enjoys taking part in the staging. And that is probably the best advice we can give: seasonal décor works better when it becomes a family activity rather than a simple display.
