Techniques for easily putting the duvet into the duvet cover

We have all experienced that moment when we find ourselves inside the duvet cover, stuck like in a poorly pitched tent, wondering why we decided to change the sheets today.

Good news: there are simple (and almost magical) techniques for easily putting your duvet into its cover. We promise that after this, you will never see this task as a chore again.

Why is it always so complicated?

The duvet is soft, the cover is large, everything slips, everything turns over…
Result: you pull on one side, it moves to the other.

But in reality, it’s not complicated. You just need to use the right method.

1. The “burrito” technique (the most effective)

This is THE method that changes everything.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Place the duvet cover upside down on your bed, with the opening facing downwards.
2. Place the duvet on top, ensuring it is properly aligned.
3. Starting at the top (closed side), roll everything together like a large burrito.
4. Once rolled down, grab the opening of the cover and turn it back around the roller.
5. Unroll… and there you go.

Magical.
The duvet fits inside all by itself.

Honestly, the first time you try it, you wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.

2. The wedge technique (simple and quick)

If you prefer to stick with a more traditional method:

1. Turn the duvet cover inside out.
2. Slide your arms inside and grab both corners at the bottom.
3. At the same time, grasp the corresponding corners of the duvet.
4. Shake gently, allowing the cover to unroll.

The duvet naturally sinks into the cover.

A little tip: do it directly on the bed. That way, nothing will fall on the floor.

3. The pinching technique (for perfectionists)

If your duvet tends to move around during the night:

• Use special clips or small ties at the four corners.
• Some covers already have internal fasteners.

The result: a duvet that stays in place, even after a restless night.

4. The detail that makes all the difference: choosing the right size

Many difficulties simply arise from poor adjustment.

A cover that is too large = the duvet floats.
A cover that is too small = impossible to fit properly.

Always take the exact measurements of your duvet.

And while you’re at it… choose a fabric that is pleasant, soft and easy to handle. A nice percale or cotton gauze glides much better than a stiff fabric. It makes the process smoother, faster… almost enjoyable.

Bonus tip: the right moment

Change your cover when you have a little time to spare, not just before going to bed.

Putting a duvet in its cover should never spoil the pleasure of a freshly made bed.
